2024 Abrams Taxiway Lighting & Beacon

Project Summary & Timeline

Reconstruction of the taxiway lighting parallel to runway 9/27 and the airport beacon. This project will tentatively begin September 9, 2024, and is anticipated to last 30 days, with a total closure of the airport for the first 10 days. The taxiway lighting circuit will be completely replaced along with a new beacon and tower for the beacon.

  • June 11, 2024 - Preconstruction meeting and waiting on material delivery.
  • June 18, 2024 - Project notice to airport and all hangar renters/owners.
  • August 5, 2024 - Start Date September 9, 2024 Notice delivered to all hangar renters/owners
  • August 30, 2024 - The start date is now tentatively September 16, 2024. Thank you for your patience!
  • September 9, 2024 - TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
    • September 16 – September 25 – COMPLETE CLOSURE OF AIRPORT
      September 26 – October 15 – Airport open to users
  • October 10, 2024 - Project is on hold as supply issues are corrected. The taxiway is open in the meantime.
  • October 16, 2024 - The National Guard will be performing test well drilling soon. The airport will be closed:
    • November 4 beginning at 6 am to November 8 at midnight
    • November 11 from 6 am to November 15 at midnight.  
  • January 2025 - The taxiway lighting is complete but there is a delay with installation and completion of the beacon.
  • April 2025 - The project is wrapping up as the beacon tower and taxiway lighting are complete and functioning. Project punch list items will be completed to final the project out.
