Safe Routes to School

The City of Grand Ledge, Grand Ledge Police Department, and Grand Ledge Public Schools have partnered to identify "Safe Routes to School," which are walking routes enhanced with additional crossing guards, crosswalks, signs, and curb cuts. Students may find these common routes to be the safest and most direct way to school. Pedestrian crosswalk signs are placed along these commonly used safe routes to school. It is State Law that vehicles stop for pedestrians within the crosswalks. Please help your children become familiar with these routes.

K-12 students can identify routes closest to their homes using the interactive map below. Crossing guard locations are designated. Click here for a download of the Safe Routes to Schools map (PDF).

Thank you for keeping our school routes safe for students! Help us spread the word by sharing this with your neighbors and friends!

New Bike Lanes

Edwards and East Scott Streets have been updated with bike lanes. We want to encourage and support bicycling as a means of transportation, while reminding drivers that bicyclists are roadway users, too. These lanes help define road space for bikes and vehicles and allow for an orderly flow of traffic. On-street parking will continue to be permitted on these streets providing vehicles are adhering to parking laws and ordinances in the City of Grand Ledge. Thank you for safely sharing the roadways!
