Excitement is building... and we are too!
"New" play equipment is coming to Jaycee Park! Thanks to Grand Ledge Public Schools, the City obtained a total of four play structures that were replaced last summer. There is plenty of play left in all of them! Keep an eye out at Jaycee Park as the play area expands. Thank you for your patience!
Directions to Jaycee Park located on East River Street
Jaycee Park offers 5.92 acres of park space in downtown Grand Ledge along nearly 1,700 feet of the Grand River on East River Street. Recent expansions of the park helped make way for a permanent bathroom facility, an improved boat launch, connecting paved trail to the existing Riverwalk Trail and Wide Walk, a natural kayak launch, and an ADA-accessible kayak/canoe launch.
As a destination, Jaycee Park offers a play structure, a large swing set, a sand volleyball court, a full basketball court, picnic tables, a pavilion, a sledding hill, a universally accessible splashpad, and a performance shelter with seating for over 500. With direct access to the Riverwalk Trail and Wide Walk, as well as 100 on-street parking places along East River Street, Jaycee Park is easily accessible by non-motorized and motorized travel.
Jaycee Park hosts popular summer events such as Music in the Park (free live concerts, Thursday evenings from June - August), Yankee Doodle Day (festival in June); and the Market on the Grand (Saturday mornings from May - October). Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, visitors can cool off with the new, universally accessible GL Splashpad.
With the aid of public/private partnerships, grant funds, and community donations/support, tremendous progress has been made on the 2013 concept drawing created with community input for a vision of potential future improvements at Jaycee Park. Completed items for this vision to date include a performance shelter/amphitheater, an improved public access launch, and a universally accessible splashpad. Work continues to bring a farmer’s market pavilion, a playground with a rock-climbing wall, a skate area, new volleyball, and basketball courts, and Riverwalk Trail improvements to connect Jaycee to Fitzgerald Park along the Grand River.
